WMO and DHI Partnership

We partner with the World Meteorological Organization as part of the IFM Help Desk

We became a member of the Integrated Flood Management (IFM) Help Desk of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

To provide the full range of expertise, our experts actively support the IFM HelpDesk. They form an integral part of a larger group of professional institutions working in flood-related fields. We suggested to interact closely with WMO in the following activities:

• Preliminary flood risk assessment (More information)
• Climate change
• Water resources and land use management
• Ecology and aquaculture
• Coastal and estuarine engineering

IFM promotes an integral approach to flood management. It integrates land and water resources development in a river basin, within the context of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM). It also aims to maximise the net benefit from floodplains and minimise loss to life as a consequence of flooding. (More information)

WMO carries out its work through 10 major scientific and technical programs. There is a pool of knowledge that has been and continues to expand, thanks to the worldwide sharing of meteorological, hydrological and related information among members. The programs that WMO bases its work on are rooted in the concept that mutual benefits are gained from the cooperative use of this knowledge pool.

Through partnership programs with international agencies and other organisation, WMO is looking to strengthen its capabilities and services, and leverage them for the good of the public.
